Hello, everyone.
I am Italian. I have been working for 8 years as chief secretary/foreign languages correspondant in an important German retail multinational that hence closed its headquarters here. I am working as foreign sales assistant/Export.
I have been working also as freelance translator.
English and German are fluent at any level, both in written and in spoken. I am looking for a job in LA, because I want to move over there. I can work also in a hotel as receptionist. I am flexible and do not have problems to work on shifts.
Where can I apply? Who can help me?
Thank you very much in advance. Cheers!

Re: Recruiters in LA
Sun, October 31, 2004 - 6:22 PMTry good old Monster.com for starters...If you did a search on the web for your speciality, you might find a few other niche job boards -

Goofy, Monster is the Medium, the people who post are the ones who are responsible. For example 90% or so of all the Ads placed here in Australia are by recruiting agencies, yet they only account for 12% of the hires. So that translates to a lot of ads that are out there to gain people in a talent pool.
Their thinking is they get your information and resume and that has a value.
My response is only reply to employers, or TRUSTED agents.
Cheers!

Mon, November 1, 2004 - 9:27 PMThank you, Kevin...so I guess that only temporary job agencies would help me...? Usually, they take a resume into consideration only upon appointment. -

Re: Recruiters in LA
Tue, November 2, 2004 - 5:08 PMI suggest networking. Find discussion forums centered around your industry or LA geography. LA is huge so you may have to be specific in your target. Then I suggest you network, chat and find out as much as you can. Once you have a few people you connect with then start asking around about work.
And while your doing that- place your resume on the leading Job Boards, then activate your job search agent on these leading boards, to email you your jobs that you may be interested in.
Also you may want to check into craigslist.org, they have an LA area site, and you can get a lot of valuable inside information from there. -
